As part of the preparing for the official screening on the Ukrainian legislation compliance with EU acquis under negotiating Chapter 7: “Intellectual Property Law”, a 2nd mock session of the bilateral meeting between Ukraine and the European Commission to assess the Ukrainian legislation compliance with the EU acquis was held during 21 – 22 November, 2024.
The purpose of the mock session is to prepare Ukrainian negotiators for further meetings with the European Commission.
During the first day of the session, updated and revised materials on industrial property rights, law enforcement and anti-corruption measures were presented, and during the second day – on copyright and related rights.
Welcoming the participants of the event on behalf of the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, Dmytro Huzii, Acting Head of the Intellectual Property and Innovations Division, expressed his gratitude to the experts from EU4IP, CPVA, GIZ, as well as colleagues from the EU Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) and the European Patent Office (EPO) for their comments and suggestions on the prepared materials.
Bogdan Paduchak, First Deputy Director of the UANIPIO, emphasized that the European experts provided extremely valuable and appropriate advice on the content of the materials that the Ukrainian side will present to the European Commission, noting:
“Before the second mock session, we tried to take into account all the expert recommendations and to anticipate those aspects that may be of interest to the European Commission in the context of the negotiations on Title 7, which deals with intellectual property law. Now the materials will be updated and finalized once again to fully cover all the intellectual property issues before the Europeans.”
