The Head of IP Office`s Innovation Development Department, Olha Kronda, joined the panel discussion “Intellectual Property as a Key Driver of Innovation and Competitive Advantage: Will technology law become a separate branch of law or will it transform the sphere of intellectual property law?”. During the discussion, a lively debate unfolded on how the rapid development of technology affects the field of intellectual property and how it changes the work of lawyers. The participants discussed not only the impact of AI and the adaptation of lawyers, but also the critical need to effectively protect intellectual property rights (IPRs), properly evaluate them, put them on the balance sheet of companies and successfully commercialize them. These are key aspects for turning innovations into a real competitive advantage.

In particular, Olha Kronda emphasized:
“In today’s world, where technologies are developing at an incredible pace, intellectual property is an integral part of any business plan. It is not just a legal tool, but a central capability that transforms ideas into real products and services, driving the economy forward.
The role of the IP office in this process is fundamental: we not only register and enforce rights, but also actively work to create a favourable environment for innovation, promote their commercialization and increase Ukraine’s competitiveness in the global market.
Given the rapid development of technologies, in particular AI, Ukraine is striving not just to catch up, but to become a leader in the formation of progressive IP legislation. Our European integration vector is a way to new opportunities for growth and sustainable development.”
The panel was moderated by Dmytro Taranchuk, Director of Legal Support, JSC Farmak, Ukraine. Olha Kronda and Dmytro Taranchuk participated in the discussion with:
