The Ukrainian National Office for Intellectual Property and Innovations (UANIPIO/ the IP Office) has issued certificates of state copyright registration for the works of Ivan Marchuk, a world-renowned Ukrainian painter, People’s Artist of Ukraine, laureate of the Shevchenko National Prize of Ukraine. The outstanding artist, who on May 12 celebrates his 89th birthday, has created thousands of paintings and invented his own technique – pliontanism.
“For me, as an artist, it is important that my paintings have reliable legal protection. Art must be protected, so copyright registration is not just a formality but a manifestation of deep respect for creativity, for the energy of the soul invested in each work. Because art is a treasure that should be preserved for future generations”, Ivan Marchuk noted.
In total, 19 collections of fine art consisting of more than 2.7 thousand paintings by Ivan Marchuk, have been registered. These are the collections that the Maestro divided into periods of his work: “The Voice of My Soul”, “Flowering”, “Landscape”, “Portrait”, “Coloured Preludes”, “Shevchenko`s Collection”, “Still Life”, “New Expressions”, “White Planet I”, “White Planet II”, “Small Plastic. Monumentalism”, “Looking into Infinity”, “Blind Cycle”, “Sketches”, “Sketches of monumental works”, ’White and black. Dialogue”, “Dreams Flooding”, “Parable Paintings”, “Searching for Your Own Path”.
The information on the registration of Ivan Marchuk’s works was entered into the State Register of Certificates of Copyright Registration for a Work and will be published in the official electronic bulletin “Copyright and Related Rights” No. 89 (May 30, 2025) and No. 90 (June 30, 2025).
