Digital technologies for alternative dispute resolution: Ukraine and global experience

How do digital technologies help in mediation and alternative dispute resolution (ADR)? How does it work in Ukraine and globally, and what opportunities does it open up for creators, businesses, and lawyers?

Alla Chaika, a leading specialist of the Mediation Centre of the IP Office, spoke about this in her report-presentation ‘The State of ADR Development in Ukraine’ during the international discussion ‘Digital Innovations for Alternative Dispute Resolution in the Visegrad Countries and Ukraine’ (DIGARD V4U), coordinated by SET University.

The presentation of the Mediation Center of the IP Office is available here.

In many countries, digital solutions have already become an integral part of ADR. That is why cooperation with other countries and the exchange of experience in this area are of great importance for the development of ADR in Ukraine,’ said Alla Chaika, adding:

‘Digital technologies can become a powerful tool for promoting alternative dispute resolution and mediation in particular, providing wider access to services through online platforms, speeding up communication between the parties, automating document management processes and providing mediators with tools for data analysis and predicting possible outcomes of disputes.’

Alla Chaika, the representative of the Mediation Center of the IP Office, spoke about the state of ADR development in Ukraine.

Particular attention should be paid to the fact that technology provides the following benefits:

    • confidentiality and data protection,
    • increasing the efficiency and accessibility of the service,
    • facilitating the development and integration of ADR into the legal system of Ukraine.
