Recovery and development of Ukraine after the Victory is impossible without innovations and investments. Therefore, it is necessary to lay the groundwork for the future technological leap of our country, solving urgent issues in parallel. This was discussed at the V International Scientific and Practical Conference “Kyiv – Dnipro” Bridge.
The IP Office will fulfill its tasks: implementation of sanctions against representatives of the aggressor state in the IP sphere, harmonization of the Ukrainian IP sphere with the European one, development of the innovation ecosystem, support of science and education through the prism of IP, popularization of IP culture, improvement of the technological base of the patent office and cooperation with law enforcement agencies to counter IPR infringement.
The Head of the IP Office, Olena Orliuk, spoke about these and other steps at the event, which gathered representatives of Ukrainian and foreign universities, research institutions, the professional community of lawyers and patent attorneys.
“Today, the IP Office has turned its face towards science, education, and innovation. We are moving together within the framework of big tasks previously outlined in the National IP Strategy and urgent changes to the legislation. The adoption by the Verkhovna Rada of draft law No. 6464 proved that IP is one of the few areas where the obligations under the Association Agreement with the EU have been fulfilled. And this opens the next large block of priority tasks from the Government related to the implementation of EU legislation and the formation of a further road map, which will be adopted for Ukraine in the IP sphere and will be implemented in the coming years with the active participation of the IP Office”, – said Olena Orliuk.
The Head of the IP Office outlined essential aspects of its activities:
“The task of the IP Office is to contribute as much as possible to build a culture of IP understanding, protection, and commercialization in Ukraine. To date, in all important directions: development of the IP sphere, improvement of examination, digital transformation of the office, raising the IP awareness, development of an innovative environment, transparency of the work of our IP office, etc., we have defined a list of tasks, goals, and steps for the next year. By mid-April, we plan to propose a development plan for the IP office for the next three years,” the Head of the IP office emphasized.
