Global trends on intangible assets, successful screening on the alignment of the national legislation with the EU acquis under Chapter 7 “Intellectual Property Law”, international cooperation, and support for Ukrainian inventors ‒ the Ukrainian National Office for Intellectual Property and Innovations (UANIPIO/IP Office) has published its activity report for 2024.
2024 became a year of recognition of the role of intangible assets for the world, and a new record was set for their value for companies – $79.4 trillion (according to the Brand Finance Global Intangible Finance Tracker Report). The Ukrainian IP office understands these global trends and strongly supports their implementation in our country. This was emphasized by the Director of UANIPIO Olena Orliuk.
“Understanding global trends, UANIPIO focuses its efforts on deepening Ukraine’s international cooperation in IP sphere, ensuring the European integration process, improving the quality of examination of applications for intellectual property rights, digitalizing the processes of the IP office and customer orientation in the provision of public services.
The Government of Ukraine sees the country in 2030 as a state where innovation is the basis of the economy and national security. The sphere of intellectual property as an integral part of national policy, economy, culture, social development is moving in the direction determined by the state authorities of Ukraine”, – emphasized the Director of IP Office.
At the same time, UANIPIO continues to work on combating IPRs infringements, creating an innovative ecosystem, and deepening international cooperation for the entire intellectual property sector.
“Given the extremely negative consequences of counterfeiting and piracy for the economy, budgets, businesses, authors and innovators, we have rethought the role of UANIPIO in the implementation of state policy to develop an effective system of intellectual property rights protection in Ukraine. The efforts of our team are constantly aimed at creating and assisting in the commercialization of intellectual property as an integral part of the innovative development of Ukraine”, ‒ underlined Olena Orliuk.
In addition, IP Office is actively working to ensure the effective functioning of a high-quality platform for dialogue in the intellectual property sphere, to promote alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, to develop creative sectors of the economy, and to build an IP culture among Ukrainians.
